I never know what to say when somebody asks me about my home business. It's a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I have built 20-something websites over the years to reflect my interests and connect with like-minded people. Some sites were built to serve as mini-businesses. Others simply because I wanted them to exist.
I sell family-specific genealogy books in memory of my grandfather and his best friend. I sell ad space on informational websites. I use my graphic design skills to create business cards, product labels, and booklets. I help people clean up their existing websites or build a whole new one. And I enjoy a little photography 🙂
Bright Blue Nest is an important piece of my attempt to streamline my home business and blogs, so I can focus more on what brings me joy.
What is Bright Blue Nest?
Bright Blue Nest is my new online pet store that will also handle sales for some of my other hobbies.
The idea was hatched in 2025, as I realized I needed to reduce the number of personal sites I was trying to keep up with. Especially the ones that handle sales, since keeping anything that handles credit cards up to date and secure is a high priority.
Pet Store - Bright Blue Nests's main focus will be an online pet store. Why a pet store? Because it sounds like a fun way to earn money to take care of all the animals that depend on me! (Currently at 2 dogs, 10 cats, 1 bearded dragon, and 10 fish.)
Photos & Wall Art - People often tell me that I should sell my pictures. Little do they know that I have been doing that through a third-party site for years. But I would like to start doing more direct sales.
T-Shirt Shop - I would also like to try selling a few of my t-shirt designs directly.
More to come ... I have so many plans for this site! But I am starting small to keep things manageable.
