As good a time as any to be sick.
I am sick. I woke up yesterday with a sore throat and stuffy nose. 38 hours later I am just “blah”.
First and foremost, I would like to apologize to anybody whom I have not shown an appropriate level of sympathy when they were sick. It is easy to forget how truly miserable it is to be under the weather.
Second, I would like to state that if I am going to be sick, this is about the best timing possible. And for that I am grateful.
December is a busy month.
My mother has safely arrived in Zimbabwe for the trip that she has been planning. How exciting for her! And good for me that sickness came after she left. I would have hated to miss out on those last chances to see her for fear of sharing my germs and making her sick too when she was trying to prepare.
The lady at work who had a baby is on her last week of maternity leave. I am glad that I will not have to worry about sending germs home to her baby.
The chili pepper in my garden is still hanging on – a few dozen peppers left that I can pop in my mouth and chew up for an instant (but fiery) decongestant. The relief is amazing!
And I still have 5 days left before this year’s Christmas celebrations begin! 5 days to get this sickness out of my system so I won’t have to miss the excitement.
Having a cold is not fun. But I am reminding myself to be grateful that it came with good timing this year. (At least I hope it’s just a cold.)
Wishing you wellness as I sit at the computer, sipping on some warm chai tea.
