Why is it getting hard to find Centrum Specialist Energy multi-vitamins?

Today Centrum finally confirmed that they have discontinued the Centrum Specialist line. I am disappointed because Centrum Specialist Energy worked so well for me.
After comparing the current Centrum formulas, I decided to try Centrum Adult next time. I will link to it and any other alternatives that I decide to try below:
Centrum has provided a Find Your Centrum quiz if you want to ask them for suggestions and a Product Comparison Page if you know which supplement values ou are looking for. They do require you to submit your name and email to get the quiz results and coupon.
I personally took it for the extra boost of Niacin, which my doctor suggested I take for vertigo. I tried low-dosage niacin supplements in the past, but they caused a severe reaction. Centrum Energy specialist had enough niacin to relieve my vertigo without causing a severe reaction.
I will update this post if I have any useful information about any alternatives that I try!

My favorite multi-vitamin is getting so hard to find! I reached out to GSK (owners of the Centrum brand) to let them know how much this product has helped me and to ask if it has been discontinued or if they are having a temporary problem keeping it in stock. Their response is summarized below:
“We are still manufacturing the product and it’s not clear why your local stores aren’t carrying it. … any retailer who stocks other GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare products (e.g., Excedrin and Aquafresh) can order the product from their wholesaler.”

Why has it suddenly got so hard to find?
I still don’t have an answer to why it is so hard to find this vitamin. Even the manufacturers claim to be unclear why.
7/10/2021 Update: GSK recently sent me the following message:
At this time, GSK Consumer Healthcare is experiencing a temporary supply disruption on certain formulations and sizes of Centrum vitamins due to an increase in demand and a production disruption at one of our manufacturing sites. We are working hard to ensure our products are restocked as soon as possible. However, consumers may continue to experience out of stock situations for certain Centrum products as we work to restore stock to normal levels.
Please be assured that this disruption is unrelated to product quality and does not affect any product currently in the marketplace. At this point in time we cannot confirm a definite date as to when supply will resume.
Where you can still get Centrum Specialist Energy Online
I first noticed this vitamin in the clearance section of my local Walmart. Since then, it has been hard to find at my local store. So I have been ordering it from Amazon.com and WalMart.com for years.
Every now and then I still get lucky and find a 120 ct bottle of Centrum Specialist Energy at Walmart or 60 ct bottle at Walmart.

I can’t find it anywhere either. I also love and need this multivitamin with energy ingredients. I tried alive women’s vitamins with energy. I hate it! Good luck!
I’ve been taking these for twenty years, and I’m hoping they continue. I’ve been buying them on Amazon but the price is getting crazy.
Just keep watching those Amazon and WalMart listings! The price seems to bounce up and down. GSK recently informed me that they are experiencing supply disruptions. I hope they are able to get back on track with this and other formulas soon!
Try eBay. $30 for 2-pack, that’s where I get it.

Yes I’m having the same thing happening. It’s been off and on for the last couple of years at my Walmarts near me. But now all stores are out of stock.
Thanks for the link, I too am finding it hard to find. I have been taking this vitamin for years and like it a lot. It helps me get going in the morning and throughout the day ….It keeps my mind sharp and give me energy as the label suggests … Just ordered 4 bottles to stock up on them.
I’m also having problems locating centrum specialist energy in stores. I have been taking this multivitamin for over 20 year and find myself unable to function without it.
Too strange that we all live in different parts of the country and we are all having the same issue with the Centrum Energy vitamin!!! Hopefully the mfg. resolves this issue since I have not found anything that works as good !!!
Yes, very strange that they say the product is still being produced yet so many people are having a hard time finding it. I would like to ask my local pharmacy, but every time I go in they are swamped with customers who are worried about the pandemic. (mostly phone calls, plus a line of people who need to get their regular meds or ask a question)
I take this vitamin for an extra boost of B3 (niacin), which my dr said I needed more of. He actually suggested I take a niacin supplement, but it was too strong and caused other problems.
I was also having trouble finding Centrum Energy vitamins. There were comments about it being discontinued, but I found and ordered some online. I read the above article which stated that the vitamin was still being produced. Hopefully, they are correct.
