Tonight, we snuck next door like stealthy ninjas and did a quick cleanup while my almost 87-year-old grandmother napped. I hope she is pleased when she gets up in the morning!
For months, my daughter and I have been saying that we need to go over more often to help my grandmother keep things tidy. But it is so easy to find ourselves busy with things that are more fun than sorting through piles of dirty laundry or searching under the couch for any half-eaten sandwiches that may have fallen off Granny's plate.
I was glad to see that my daughter and best friend were both willing participants when I announced it was time. My friend even sprang to action with a kitchen timer and suggested we pretend to be ninjas - stealthily sneaking in and cleaning up as my grandmother slept. Of course, I did pop into her bedroom to check on her and tell her that we were there, and take out the trash. The last thing I would want is for my grandmother to hear somebody in the other room and get scared.
